RAHMİ H. SAYDER, Executive Chairman
Rahmi Sayder has over 25 years of experience in New York, London and Turkish financial markets with particular emphasis on asset-backed finance including mortgages and mortgage-backed securities, CMO’s, and real estate development work.
Mr Sayder is a founding partner of Newmark Advisory Ltd., a London based financial consultancy company established in 1995 concentrating on the Turkish market. In 2003 and part of 2004, he served on the board of directors of Yapi ve Kredi Bank to help prepare the bank for sale, attending over 40 full-day meetings. At YKB, he set up a committee and lead the preparation and sale of the bank’s non-banking assets, in particular residential and commercial real estate holdings. During the same time, he also served on the board of directors of Enternasyonal Tourism A.Ş. (one of the largest land development companies), Digiturk (largest pay TV platform), Superonline (largest ISP in the country).
From June 1999 through July 2001, Rahmi Sayder actively lead the restructuring of one of the largest real estate development companies in Turkey. Between 1988 and 1994, Mr. Sayder was employed at Bankers Trust Co., London, where he initially managed the bank's cross border advisory and finance businesses in Turkey and as a member of the board of directors was responsible for monitoring Turk Merchant Bank, BTCo's then joint venture investment bank in Istanbul. From 1992 until the end of 1994, he established and managed the asset-backed finance group at BTCo which specialized in ‘future receivables-backed’ financings.
Prior to 1988, Rahmi Sayder worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, New York, where he was responsible for establishing and managing a group to provide advisory services to financial institutions (S&L’s) with mortgage, mortgage-backed and CMO portfolios. He also spent five years at FORTIS, USA (a financial services company, then called AMEV) where he managed company-wide debt and fixed income security portfolios.
He started his finance career in 1979 at Exxon Enterprises, the venture-capital division of Exxon Corp.Mr Sayder received an MBA from Columbia University Graduate Business School, New York in 1980 and is a graduate of Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science.
BAHADIR TEKER, CEO
Since June 2005, Bahadır Teker has provided advisory services under the company he founded, Istanbul Capital, for mortgage finance, real estate project finance and the establishment of REITs. He set up a new company in 2006, with a partnership of York Capital based in USA, to serve to the Turkish home loan market as a lending institution. He is currently CEO of the company. Bahadır Teker is still board member of several companies including some of the REITs.
Mr. Teker has been one of the persons in creating the mortgage market in Turkey as the manager of this project for the CMB. Before 2005, as Deputy Head of the department of CMB, he had been responsible for Real Estate Investment Trusts, Mutual and Pension Funds, VC Funds, Investment and Portfolio Management Companies.
Mr. Teker has often been one of the highly sought after speakers on real estate and mortgage market seminars and gatherings not only in Turkey but also on the international platform. He has also published various articles and wrote three books, “Real Estate Finance through Capital Market Instruments” (1994), “Capital Market Regulations in OECD Countries” (1997), and “Mutual Funds in Turkey” (1999).
Mr. Teker holds a BS in Business Management from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara and has completed finance program of Wharton Business School in 2001.
LÜTFİ AYDENİZ, Credit Director
Lütfi Aydeniz has spent 12 years at İşbank where he gained considerable experience in the Turkish financial market with particular emphasis on mortgages.
As a graduate of Dokuz Eylül University, School of Business Administration, Lütfi Aydeniz started his career at the Board of Auditors of İşbank. He worked for 8 years as an auditor in İşbank branches in several cities of Turkey. Within this period, he apprehended the frame of reference in accounting and legal aspects of the banking system and gained experience in risk management analyzing Turkish banking sector and the commercial sector.
Then he started to work at Consumer Loans Department, in charge of mortgages, vehicle loans, cash advance loans and overdrafts where he served for 4 years. In this period, he mainly carried the responsibility of research and development, customer relationship management, marketing and sales activities, public relations, campaign management, underwriting, monitoring, reporting, auditing, and setting targets and budget planning processes.
In the beginning of 2005, his team organized to focus only on mortgages dealing with research and development of mortgage products, monitoring international and competitor applications, setting underwriting, scoring and monitoring guidelines of mortgages, project finance, and executing relationships with constructors, co-operatives, developers, real estate agencies and appraisal companies. In the same period he led projects such as centralization of operational activities of consumer loans and determining, defining, designing and executing processes according to the Mortgage Law requirements in both technology and business respects.
ONUR ÖZSAN, Finance Director
Onur Özsan has been in the Turkish housing finance industry for more than a decade. He worked for the State Housing Development Administration (TOKI) and Armed Forces Pension Fund (OYAK) for over 12 years where he held various management and board positions. He recently retained Fannie Mae for the feasibility study of OYAK’s Pilot Mortgage Program. He managed to raise funding for the technical assistance provided by Fannie Mae through USTDA on a full grant basis. Besides participating in new business development activities of OYAK, he was also in charge of the financial management of certain housing development projects. He also assumed a board position at Erdemir Logistics, a company fully owned by Erdemir Steel, which is an OYAK subsidiary.
Prior to OYAK, between 1994 and 2001 he worked on the government side of the housing industry in Turkey, the Prime Ministry Housing Development Administration. As a sales associate at the Housing Development Administration, he sold more than 3000 units in central and southeastern Turkey to middle income families between 1994 and 1998. His next duty, until he moved on to OYAK, was cash flow management and regulatory affairs.
Onur Özsan also taught Finance Management at Cankaya University on a part time basis as one of his extracurricular activities such as having several articles published in local and international finance journals mainly related to housing finance.
Prior to his MBA study he worked as a quality control engineer at Koytur Holding in Turkey for almost a year, which remains the only active engineering experience in his professional life.
Onur Özsan holds a BSc degree in Chemical/Food Engineering from Middle East Technical University and an MBA degree from University of Illinois at Springfield.
RIFAT SÖNMEZ, IT Director
Rıfat Sönmez has been in consulting and software business for a decade.
He worked for Booz-Allen and Hamilton, and then for Bain Cuneo and Associati in restructuring retail activities of a large Turkish bank, drafting a general strategy for a family conglomerate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, conducting a research on a major competitor for an international confectionery manufacturer.
He worked in telecoms business (Telsim), in marketing value-added services platforms in international markets. He participated in marketing and sales activities and tenders in East European countries. He then joined Banksoft, an independent software developer for the financial industry. There he was responsible for international business development and led the expansion efforts to markets like Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyz Republic. He was also responsible for the ISO-8583 Switch software and the related certifications at Visa and MasterCard. He also developed the local market for CAP standard for alternative channel banking, such as Internet and Call Center, in connection with the French terminal manufacturer Xiring.
He joined IFS and took charge of the IT operations in November 2006.
Rıfat Sönmez holds a High Honors BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University and an MSc from Georgia Institute of Technology, in the same field. He took the second rank among 225,000 in OYS in 1986, Turkish equivalent of American SAT. |
